Iavora Stoilova made a
donation of the Prof. Vasil Stoilov’s private archive to NBU.
At the NBU Library
central foyer on 28.02 – an eligible date for the family of the
famous Bulgarian artist Prof. Vasil Stoilov, the daughter of the
painter Mrs. Iavora Stoilova officially donated materials from the
professor’s heritage to the University. The donation stands for the
main goal of popularizing and subjecting to research the fundaments
of Vasil Stoilov’s work. The essential contribution for the archival
donation belongs to Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov, a close friend of Vasil
Stoilov. Jivka Vinarova, Phd – lecturer at NBU realized an active
coordination on the activity.Iavora Stoilova made a presentation of
her father’s heritage, starting with a brief over introduction of
the intellectual Vasil Stoilov:” That Particular University is to be
regarded as an island of culture. This would be the most remarkable
birthday in my father’s whole life. I brought here the suitcase,
with which he marked his long journey to Paris and his way back as a
great artist. I’m leaving the suitcase, full of masterpieces, hoping
that his work has found its proper place. I am glad at the
perspective my father to be commemorated not only as a great painter
but also as a personality – a real Renaissance personality. From NBU
starts the new Renaissance period. Vasil Stoilov is going to be born
again.The donation list includes George Brack’ s portrait,
self-portrait, and self- outline in plaster from Ivan Blajev, four
notebooks from the Paris period of the artist with translations,
lines, diaries, sketches, letters; preprint of book about Vladimir
Dimitrov – Maistora; non-print materials on different artistic
researches. Best of accessories is his non-print notebook, covering
the bogomiles theme, revealing the Vasil Stoilov’s personality from
entirely different point of view. There are also included unique
family photos, tjubeteika hat, accompanying the artist through his
creative spirit, his ash tray, cards, ancient cupboard, the door
bell from his atelier, brushes etc. Mrs. Iavora Stoilova expressed
her great excitement upon the web-page, designed to the Library
web-site, devoted to her father, where the user could find picture
gallery, biography notes and complete title list of the donation.

A donation contract was signed between Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov and
Mrs. Iavora Stoilova. A
notice appeared in the “Democracy”, “Novinar” and “Standart”
newspapers. On the Channel 1, Bulgarian National Television appeared
reportage. The Library of the New Bulgarian University recently
intends to arrange an exhibition of Vasilia’s work, the
granddaughter of the artist.
